CRAIG MARTIN, Fourth-Generation Founder
As a member of the fourth generation and caretaker of Martin Family Farms, I have enjoyed watching our farm and team members transition from raising pigs outdoors to providing environmentally controlled conditions for our livestock. Not only has this improved productivity, but it has made the process safer and more comfortable for both the animals and our team members.
I take great pride in knowing that the end consumer is receiving a product that is safe, healthy and most importantly, they can feel good about the team that produced it. Every day, we remain committed to caring for the planet, our pigs, and our people.
It has been rewarding to see the fifth generation develop a strong work ethic, honesty, and a deep sense of community—values instilled by William Martin, the first generation, and carried forward through each family. Martin Family Farms is in good hands and from our family to yours, Thanks!
BRIAN MARTIN, Co-Owner
What inspired you to carry on the Martin family legacy?
Having received the great gift of being raised on a farming operation outside the back door, our entire life revolved around business and family. The inspiration to continue was inherent in a love of the lifestyle, even though the 1980 version is nothing like the 2025 version.
What’s the most rewarding part of running a multi-generational family farm?
The numerous, diverse, long-term relationships nurtured through the years continue to see all sides prosper. This extends to our family of team members, vendors, contract partners, neighbors, and many communities we touch.
What’s your favorite childhood memory of the farm?
There were opportunities to be trained in a wide range of skills from a young age. Payroll began around age 10 at $1 per hour. We were taught to drive tractors, weld, turn bolts, change tires, feed, water, inseminate sows, make feed, plow, mow, thaw out frozen drinkers, mix concrete, remove mice, pick up rocks, be frugal…..and numerous other skills sharpened in the years since.
